What's everybody doing?

Took this pic this afternoon, a lot of the ice has melted but there's still a lot out there.  It snowed a little every day this week and there's a bigger snow supposedly coming in again tonight.  I'll be glad when this mess goes away although it's been pretty nice and quiet because of the iced up driveway. 

 

The sun was shining today so I thought I would try to put the truck in the sun to help it thaw out.  I discovered there was still 2" of ice on it under the snow and there was no getting in it...  This ice has been here for a week, I'm really ready for Spring for sure.  I'm glad I went and loaded up on groceries a few days before it hit.  

 

Haven't been down the driveway in over a week and found something else to do.  I guess some one driving on the slick road may have got it and of course no one said a word.  This has happened several times in the 30 years I've lived here...  

It's going back in steel this time, if someone hits it next time by not paying attention they will definitely need some paint work. 

 

Working in the shop today and looked out the window and it was snowing again, and it's supposed to be 5 below zero tonight... 

At least it's 74 and sunny in the shop.  On a bright note it's supposed to start warming up tomorrow and be 45 by Sat. 

 

A friend showed up and brought lunch so I rewarded him by getting him to help me put up the new mailbox in the cold lol. 

I'm not that cold, I bought lunch too... 

If you're coming this way the new setup is black, like in the pics but put together.  No name or sign as always, just the street address, I have too much to do already.  It was too cold to take pics of it today so I'll get some later.

 

Another 2 ton mini split came in last Monday, it was the job for last Sat.  Everything was on carts and in the house ready to go Sat morning.  It's all in and working and the house is warm as toast.  There's a little work left to do outside to pretty it up but last Sat was cold and it was past bedtime when it got done.  The 2 units in the house are not on outside walls so it takes a lot longer to do.  Everything got cleaned up this morning from that job and it's on to the next project. 

 

Oh brother not again...      

Watching ice storms, then snow, then rain, then snow, then more ice, then rain, then floods, single digits and more snow coming in tonight...  The warm and cold fronts have been picking their fights right through here.  The past month has been nuts around here and we're in a state of emergency from floods a few days ago with Winter storm warnings for tonight. 

On a bright note it has made it a little quieter around here so I can get caught up on some things I need to do.  Making the new receiver hitches, (I only had 4 Curt receivers left), cleaning around the shop, doing some maint on the Cavalier and Dually, finished up the wiring on my winch setup today, and tons of other little things. 

 

Just going like the wind as usual.  Warm weather is pretty much here and peeps are already calling and coming in looking for tractors + attachments.  It's gonna be another busy Spring but that's ok, I have a ton of new stuff coming up farm the farm that also needs to go somewhere... 

Most of my spare time has been spent making space for all of the incoming tractors and stuff at the farm.  My friend Kevin is coming up again this Sat, the plan starting today for all of my spare time daily, and for us this Sat is to find or make every square inch of space possible.  Things will prob start to move up here little by little next week, then the rest all at once with my and Kevin's trailers over the next 2 weekends...  One good thing is both of our trailers have open sides, and are now outfitted with the trailer receivers and winch setups to make loading a lot easier.  

Weekend before last Kevin brought his trailer up we built the trailer mount, got it mounted to the front, and a new wiring box installed like I'm putting on mine.  His is all done, wired up and mounted.   Mine got the winch plug lead out finished last week and is ready to be used even if I have to wire tie it to the frame somewhere.    All I need is the winch for now, it's only 1/4 mile to the farm so I don't need it road ready, I'll do that at some point later on.

 

Still rearranging the world here and getting ready for the big tractor and such move. 

Clearing carts and using things that were empty to make more space.  Last week I got the Fastenal chain station out and collected a lot of my 4 drawer heavy organizers and put on it, it can handle the weight.  Some were in the paint booth on a small cart, some were in the shop on a 4' 3 shelf cart, one was in the back by itself.  Now they are all in one spot minus one I can't get to right now, but it can go on the top later.  It's really nice having them all in one spot and labeled, now I can get even more done in a day...  

Since I've slowed things down a little and not restoring as many at once now I gave up one of the paint hangers to hang belts on.  This was done last week as well.  The 3 shelf cart was in the paint booth taking up a lot of space as you can see in the pic.  Now things are easier to find and taking up a lot less floor space. 

Lots of other things are going on but my 12+ hours for today are up.  Yea I've been back on 12+ hour days for awhile but it should end next month after all the stuff from the farm is up here.
