Carson's C-121

Thanks Carson.  

Even though it's a tough one I'm glad it ended up here and not somewhere where someone didn't take the care and time to take it apart the right way and try to save as many parts as possible.  Most peeps just get out the hammer and start wailing lol.  

These pics are from last Friday, just more pics of rust and it coming apart.  

 

More pics from last Friday when most of it was apart.  I can't believe I was determined enough to get the rusty pin out of the rear hitch but there it is.  It was rusted so bad some of it was gone.  The other pics are just more disassembly and rusty parts after it was down to just a frame, motor, and transmission.

Jeepers, not much left, you’ve really got a lot done on that tractor in a week. I also thought I’d mention, if you have the arm rests for that 3 piece seat, I would like those installed please, if you have them.

I have a few NOS kits still in boxes left like the one I showed you.  I will set one aside for you.   

The top piece in the first pic is something that absolutely has to be kept, it was only used on the 78 + 79 C Series and the SK-486.  I have some ideas, we'll see if what I have in mind will work.  I have a lot of ideas on how to make this one nice, the wheels are turning again.   

The other pics are of the final disassembly, the donor wheels, and the 314 that will provide the motor for this one on the forklift.  I've never put a magnum on an older tractor but I don't see why it wouldn't work, we'll soon find out...  

 

There's not much doubt that this tractor actually has 206 hours like it says on the working gauge.  Everything is coming apart by hand and looks like new minus dust, dirt, and surface rust.   I took the 314 down to every piece like the C-121, only difference is it was all done in less than 1 days work.  The parts were so nice I thought some could be used on the C-121, or should be put inside and in stock here.  Most of the missing paint making it look bad is from the steam cleaner, I was running it pretty hot.  I have a lot more pics but they're still on the camera and it's almost time to leave, will get them up tomorrow.  

Tomorrow will be quite a few posts to show all the nice parts, a lot of them can be used on the C-121. 

 

The big bench had to be cleared so the oil was drained from the old engine and all of the unusable parts for this tractor put outside.   All of the cut off and broken unusable smaller parts were thrown away.  It was time to get serious about what was going to be used to build this tractor back.  

After this post will be several of the nice parts we can use to make this tractor what Carson wants it to be.  

 

OK Carson, here's some of the parts we can use that will be like new when blasted.  I'll call you next week to see what you want to do, then get started on doing some cleanup and blasting.  I have a lot of pics here and it's better to do all this in a phone call while looking at all the pics rather than here to get an idea of what to use.
