We are now selling totally rebuilt Wheel Horse front steering supports, or rebuilding them if you have your own.  Part numbers are 4412, 6396, 109733, 88-2710, 88-2710-03, and there may be other numbers but we can do them all.  When rebuilt they will take the same bushing for the top and bottom, they are the same thickness as the lower original bushing in all other part numbers (other than the 4412) just better material.  When done they are a perfect 3/4" bore for the upper and lower shafts.  If you choose to buy one there is a hefty core charge as these are discontinued and NLA, when they're gone, they're gone.  If you have one that is broken or has been welded on the core charge will apply, we have no use for second rate parts here as most of you already know.

There was a lot of time investigating these and there a subtle differences in each one.  It took a lot of hours to compare and see what kind of jig needed to be made for the mill but it's all done.  They are all precision bored on the Bridgeport mill, tooling was also made to center the support and set the bore depth for each one.   The only one found so far without a bottom bushing was the 4412.  If you have a 4412 that is worn on the bottom we can precision bore it and add a bushing to fix it as well.

The bushings have a very thin flange to make up for wear, or make sure future wear doesn't occur.  They are made in and from Germany, are split bushings, maintenance free (self lubricating), and RoHS 2 certified. I will put some specs below if you're into that kind of thing but rest assured, they will most likely last longer than the tractor, or owner, and if one ever develops play it can be replaced with 2 fingers, no tools needed.  You will see below that the bushing maximum running speed, rotating, short-term, is 394 feet per minute, or 2.0 meters (6 feet) per second.  It is overkill for this application but as everyone knows that's how we do things around here...

I only ordered 5 samples of several different bushings for this and other projects but more of these are ordered and should be here next week.

I ordered 200 of these to start with and they showed up a few days ago.  Between the holidays, getting my tax number set up with them and work around here it took longer than I hoped but this project is wrapped up and ready to go.

I also keep finding more uses for them anywhere a 3/4" rod goes into a 3/4" bore that's worn so they may not last as long as I originally thought but they make more of them every day...
