Does that take 10W-30 or ATF?

It is my understanding that it will work fine with either, but not mixed. I have read somewhere that synthetic is preferred.

I would find out what it's supposed to have. There's a big difference between ATF and motor oil, big difference in viscosity and the friction modifiers especially.

I don't know when the change from ATF to motor oil was. I think right about the 1973 year....in fact I believe some of the 18 autos had ATF.....I have Dexron ATF in my charger and it works great...after 50 years...minus 2....
