The new Krylon Cherry Red has real problems in the new Cover Maxx line, we don't recommend it for the tractors at all. It doesn't have a good shine and the color went darker.

We talked to Krylon and it is a new mix. Krylon sent me several samples that just showed up and we will give them a try and let you guys know what happens. :)

I'm interested to test the Industrial Acryli-Quick. It is Lacquer. :thumb

some guys will do anything to get a few free samples :tounge2
that is truly one of those what's next problems..
they took the lead out of gas, the oil out of oil & now reformulated the red paint>( >(

I just tried the Krylon Maxx Cherry Red and it seemed to work well. Just a bit dark for my 520H's. I put a coat of Valspar IH Red with harder over it and its a bit lighter than the original, but a much better match. Maybe I got a can from the old formula.

Did the can look like one of the reds in the front of this pic?

I must have some of the older black label paint. I just picked it up from Wally World last week, but who knows how long its been on the shelf.

I really hate to hear that Krylon is change formula and having problem. Its been one of my "go-to" paints for years

You have the Super Maxx, we have some of that to try out here and it's supposed to be pretty good. How do you like it Kurt? :)

The problem paint is the Cover Maxx, in the can with the red label, or usually has the color of the paint on the label.

I didn't know there were two kinds of Maxx, so I'm learning something. I've used this Super Maxx for several years now and I'm generally happy with the paint. It goes on easily and dries quickly to a nice finish. Its been holding up well so far, but I've only used it for about 5 years. All my horses are kept inside in the stable, so fade has not been a problem.

My only issue has been color match, and that's not Krylon's problem. One red is too dark and one too lite on my 520H's. Valspar IH Red does a little better for color, but its still too bright and I can't get it locally anymore. When TSC was carrying it I used it often. For what its worth, I prefer to use quart cans with my HVLP gun and hardener. Works great, but clean up is a PITA.

I have a snow plow for my 8N painted in Rustoleum Sunrise Red. It took forever to harden and has faded badly. I've been steering clear of the old standard Rustoleum enamal for some time now.

In rattle cans, Krylon and Valspar are the way to go.

Cleanup is the reason we're doing what we're doing now. If I ever get the paint booth emptied out we will more than likely switch to a red automotive single stage urethane. That could be who knows when though. :doh

I've got the same problem. I have to paint in my driveway. Wind, dust and bugs have ruined more than one paint job. Wish I had room for a paint booth, but I might just squeeze in a sand blaster.
