The belt that broke was a Wheel Horse belt, kinda grey and kinda brown. I'm not sure what color to call it. Lately I've been using TSC belts. They are blue Kevlar belts by PIX. So far they have been working well for me..

For :horse belts I try to stick with oem for drive belts on all my tractors. But for the implements like blowers, go with what you can find. I get a great deal from the Binckelman corp. As we do a lot of buisness with them through work and I end up getting them dirt cheap. They are industry belts like bando and goodyear. For just a few $ i get a good belt that does pready good. I will be using these belts on my blower next year as I only have one :horse belt left.

Scott, it sounds like you've got a great source for belts. Like you, I've been using OEM belts for drive belts. The really take the worst beating and its worth a few extra bucks. But for my decks and blower, I got caught without a back up a few years ago and tried the blue PIX Kevlar belts at TSC. They have been holding up really well. Much better than automotive belts that you can get from the auto part store. I wish I had a good local source for industrial belts like you do, I would give them a try. They are what we used a work before I retired. They held up well in rotten environments.

Now that its summer I need to scrounge an xtra belt for my single stage. Are OEMs hard to find? Do you guys have a favorite non OEM? Glad I read this thread. I have a few OEM chains but never snapped up a belt. Frankly I am trying to hunt a 44inch 2 stage down, I think I might be overdoing it for around here though. I missed a pretty nice one. I also have the single stage for the 5xi, was used only twice by the prior owner. I like the 520, might just dedicate it to snow duty,

The OEM belt for the 79360 single stage blower is Toro No. 9750, it is a 5/8" X 69" belt (5L cross section).

I've been using the Pix,(blue Kevlar) belts that are available at TSC and all over the web. So far I have been happy with them. The best prices I've found for OEM Toro belts has been on Ebay. I'm getting ready to finish rebuilding my two-stage, I'm going to try the Pix belt for that and see what happens.
