Wait for 8x12 to go on sale and go for it. One thing for sure HF stands behind what they sell, if it breaks they will give you another or money back. :2cents

I looked them over many times. I guess it depends on what you want to do with it, but they are small and under powered. I would opt for a used 9" Sound Bend, Atlas or Logan. They are plentiful and can usually be found for $500-$800 in good shape. They are quite capable machines. I have two 9" South Bends, both have done everything I have thrown at them. If you have a few more bucks, find a 10" or 12" Clausing (49XX or 59XX).
