When we were in Indy a few weeks ago we found out about pressure blast cabinets. We drooled over them but starting price on these monsters are $10K.

True pressure systems, or pressure cabinets are pretty cool. You put media in them and don't have to refill them manually. The system reclaims the media, filters and screens it, then the pot refills itself. The only time you add more is when it's used up. You can do a lot more work and do it a lot faster as the system pretty much takes care of itself.

The guys in Indy just sold a new one, got it installed, and called me and told me the people they sold the new one to were selling their old pressure system. They were selling it cheap and wanted it out of the way. Of course I broke out into the happy dance and ran for the truck. :dance1

I went and picked it up right away yesterday. The cabinet is 4' wide, 3' deep, and 3' tall inside, and is completely functional. We will give it a red + ivory paint job, upgrade the nozzle, the hoses and gaskets to make it like the new pressure systems. We will be running the new plastic media in it and be using it just for ultra fast paint stripping. :woo

I like the way the side opens to load it.
also it must be nice to have the machine run the media past a screen to pull out the dust.
fire away!!!

We'll get more pics of the setup and how it works as we install it. :)

Got it unloaded and a spot cleaned out for it yesterday, that took awhile... Just got done getting the air hookup and shutoff in the main line, and changed out the outlet that's gonna be used to a hospital grade 20A. There's a lot of cleaning and seals to replace, the thing looks like it has a lot of leaks. It also needs some new hoses. I just noticed a piece of screen over the main one also, looks like it blasted a hole in the main one over time. Now that's my kind of blaster! :rolling

We got the light box off last night and did a little modifying. It had a 24" fixture in it with 2 20 watt T12 bulbs, but the more light in the cabinet the better. We're gonna ditch the original fixture and avoid the potential ballast going out or 1 bulb failing taking all of the light with it.

The box has been modified to put 4 standard lamp holders in it with the regular twisty bulbs. The lamp holders are only $2.60 in town, about $10.00 for 4 of them. Including the bulbs this is only a $15.00 upgrade to go to 240 watts of light with 4 of the 13 watt (60 watt equivalent) twisty bulbs. This is a good cheap mod for anyone who has any type of blaster. We also painted the inside of the box silver for a little more reflection. Depending on the bulbs we can run from 160 to 400+ watts of light in there now. I think the little woman will be happy. :)
