We bought a lathe and mill today, looks like we'll be able to do engines and about anything else imaginable soon.
The lathe is an old Hendey, it will be beautiful once restored and put back the way it should be. The mill is a Bridgeport and we can pick in up after next week as it is still in use right now. These came in quicker than we planned but the price was right, they both work great, and even better they were close to home.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.
I can't see the forest for the trees.

Oldies but goodies, that has been modified a few times. Never seen one with a chain drive, looks like it might have had a leather belt at one time.

Nice score Gene, Hendey made some fine lathes. You will find more uses for it than you anticipate. My 10" Clausing was one of the best purchases I've made. Its earned its keep several times over.
Keep us posted as you restore it.

I haven't seen one with a chain on it but someone sure did a good job on it. There's a guy (Hendyman) on the Practical Machinist forum who can tell when it was made and who bought it new with what options from the serial. I'm gonna get the serial number on there today and find out what it really is. I think it's around a 1920.
Here's what it should look like, only I think this one may be red lol.

Every shop needs a lathe, and it seems as if the older ones are the best.

it wont be long before you ask your self how did you get along with out one?
if not being used for cleaning up an old piece or making a new part.
it will be turning to make that seal or bearing pusher that no one else has.
are you going to run a poll as to what color its getting painted?
