Sorry so late to post about my Air Horse. I tried a few times on my ipad but it would not post. This is an Air Horse airplane tug. It uses a Wheel Horse tractor that has been converted by Tiffin Aire out of Tiffin, OH. They still do these conversions but Tiffin uses John Deere's now. For moving around general aviation aircraft, these tugs are the bomb! I found this Air Horse at my local airport. It had not been used in a few years and did not run. I bought it 'as is' for $800. I was told that it had a fuel leak and that the past owner had done some work to the engine.

I'm no mechanic but do like to fiddle. I fixed the fuel leak (rubber grommet
on bottom of gas tank), found a missing air filter assembly on eBay, cleaned the carb and placed a new carb kit, replaced battery and spark plug, added fresh fuel. I got a spark and fuel was pumping. With a little ether she fired. It ran OK at low RPM but poor at high RPM. Seemed to labor against itself and would die if you did not lower RPM. I took it to a local lawn mower shop who are good at small engines. They broke the engine apart and found that the timing gears were set one tooth off by mistake. I then fixed oil leaks by replacing all the hydro hoses and new seals on both steering hydro cylinders. I then placed new 10 ply Carlisle tires on the tug. Once I got everything working, I decided that the next proper thing to do was to have it restored. I found Geno and WHS on the internet. I knew very quickly that I had found someone who shared my enthusiasm for this project! It was very nice to meet and get to know Geno. He has a VERY nice work shop filled with tons of cool Wheel Horse toys. He answered all our million questions and even gave us a demo of his new sand blaster! Geno is very friendly and made us feel at home. So far it looks great. I am very excited to see the end result! I love getting to see the pics of the transformation here on the forum. Great work Geno!

Got the dash and all the wheels and tires done now. The hood has been reinforced with piece of 11ga plate steel. If it bends now someone needs to go on a diet. :rolling3

The under sides of all of the sheet metal is painted minus the hood. The hood will be going back into the blaster tomorrow to finish it up.
